Nissan Develops New Skill for Amazon Alexa

In early October, Nissan reported that the company had created a new skill for the Amazon Alexa cloud-based voice service that allows some Nissan owners a new way to interact with and control their vehicle. The skill, which is called "NissanConnect Services," is offered free of charge in the connected car category of the Amazon Skills Store.

Once you enable and link NissanConnect Services to your valid Nissan Owners Portal account, you'll be able to use voice commands to perform such tasks as unlocking or locking the doors, start the engine or honk the horn. You even have the ability to customize your vehicle's name! Certain commands, such as remote start, will require a four-digit pin for an added layer of security.

NissanConnect Services and the Alexa skill integration will be available on select model years of the Rogue Sport, Rogue, Armada, GT-R, Murano, Pathfinder, Altima, Maxima, Sentra, TITAN and TITAN XD. Nissan plans to offer the technology on other models in the future.

At Lithia Nissan of Ames, we're proud to serve drivers from the Des Moines, Ankeny and Boone areas.
