Here are some tips to better prepare your car during the end of the summer season and the beginning of the fall season.
- Have your brakes checked, and replaced if necessary. While you’re at it, it’s best to have the brake lines checked, too, for corrosion. The last thing you need is for your car to have trouble stopping while driving your child to/from school, or while taking that last summer-dog-days getaway.
- Check your tire tread depth and pressure. If your tread depth is below 4/32, you’ll need to change them out. Please see your vehicle owner’s manual for more information on recommended tire inflation pressure for your particular vehicle. Another nifty trick to measure tire pressure is to place a penny in the tire tread with Abe Lincoln’s head facing down. If any part of his head is covered, you’re probably okay to keep driving on your current tires
- Get your heating system, defroster, and wiper blades checked out. With the fall weather coming, you’ll appreciate the warmth heat brings and the safety fresh wiper blades and working front, and rear defoggers allow.
