In a quest to continue to grow the American economy, Nissan recently announced that it will be adding over 900 manufacturing positions at its plant in Nashville, TN. The new positions will support the production of the next Nissan Rogue compact crossover SUV in the near future.
Bill Krueger, senior vice president of manufacturing for Nissan, boasts, "Our investment creates hundreds of new jobs and underscores Nissan's longtime commitment to our employees and expanding operations around the country."1 The model first debuted in October 2007, since which time it's been produced at the brand's plant in Kyushu, Japan.
This isn't the first time the Symrna plant has had a grow spurt recently. With the most recent addition, it will employ over 7,000 workers.
The fact that Nissan is moving production of the new Rogue from its home country of Japan to the U.S. is part of a greater strategy to localize production. By the year 2015, Nissan plans on having 85 percent of its U.S.-sold products based in North America.
Demand for the Nissan Rogue has grown exponentially over the past few years. This past May, they reached an all-time high of 17,333 vehicles sold in one month.
Have you had the opportunity to test drive the 2013 Nissan Rogue ? If not, today's a great day to stop by Lithia Nissan of Ames, located in Ames, IA and do so. We look forward to meeting you soon!
