Now that we're well into November, it's been a couple weeks since we've thought about everything October threw our way. Don't get us wrong, Halloween's one of our favorite holidays here at Lithia Nissan of Ames, but it's not every day that your nation's government shuts down. Needless to say, it was tough times all around, but that didn't stop our fans from giving us a record month of sales.

On the off chance that you don't recall (don't worry, we had to look it up, too), Nissan went and sold 79,865 vehicles in the US in October of last year. Last month, they saw a year-over-year increase of 14.2% with 91,018 units sold. Not only is that a new US October sales record for our brand, but it was enough to bump our year-to-date total to 1,032,134 units, a 9.1% increase over our first 10 months of US sales in 2012.

Speaking of records, the 2013 Nissan LEAF had its best October sales with 2,002 models shipped - a year-over-year increase of 26.8%. Not to be outdone, sales of the 2013 Nissan Rogue were up by 53.1% last month after selling 12,919 units in the States. And with next year's model soon to arrive, things are already looking up for November.

"Nissan's record October performance demonstrates that a Washington shutdown was not enough to shut down our sales momentum," says Fred Diaz, divisional vice president of Sales and Marketing and Service and Parts at Nissan USA. "With the all-new 2014 Nissan Rogue hitting dealer showrooms this month, we expect Nissan's growth to continue to accelerate."1

With that said, feel free to experience these best-sellers for yourself with a test drive at our dealership here in Ames, IA. Because if things keep going like they're going, 2013 might be a year for the ages.
