Nissan recently surpassed a major milestone that just can't go unnoticed: it produced its ten-millionth new model at its Smyrna, Tennessee production facility, and it just so happened that the model was the very first Rogue to ever be assembled on American soil. Pretty cool, right?
Ten million vehicles. Can you imagine? We've sold a very small fraction of that number here at Lithia Nissan of Ames, and from what we've seen of how happy our customers are, we can only smile when we think about there being ten million owners out there who are just as thrilled with their car of choice.
This particular plant is an important one to the Japanese company, as it hopes to significantly expand its presence in America over the next few years. Susan Brennan, Vice President of Manufacturing in Smyrna, explained how her facility fits into this overall goal, saying, "Momentum continues as we add new products, jobs and investment to our U.S. manufacturing operations. For more than 30 years, the Smyrna plant has been building high-quality vehicles, and today's milestone serves as further testament to the flexibility, efficiency and talent of our U.S. workforce."
While the 2014 Rogue is the newest model that the plant is producing, it builds many of the other great new models that you can find at our Ames, IA dealership right now. If you're interested in learning more about a particular one, or have a car in mind that you'd like to take for a test drive, stop by our dealership during regular business hours.
