Since 2006, employees from the Nissan Canton Vehicle Assembly Plant in Canton, Mississippi have united with Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area to build affordable and sustainable homes for local residents. This year hundreds of employee volunteers are participating in an eight-day build in the Richard Circle neighborhood for Canton resident Mildred Daughtery and her son.
Nissan first partnered with Habitat in 2005, donating $1 million and providing 50 Nissan Titan trucks to aid Habitat's response efforts after hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Since 2006, Nissan employees have contributed over 70,000 volunteer hours and assisted in building more than 60 homes across the country.
In a press release, Steve Marsh, vice president of Manufacturing, Nissan Canton, stated, “Nissan is very proud and fortunate to call Canton our home for the last 14 years . We are honored to again have this opportunity to partner with Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area and to work alongside the Daughtery family so that they can call Canton home, too.”
